Getting an Inmate Out of Jail

To get an inmate out of jail prior to final court disposition you can utilize either of two methods.

  1. Post Cash Bond
  2. Post Bond through a Bonding Agency

Cash Bond

To post a bond you need to first verify the amount of the bond and the type of bond needed with the jail by calling 563-422-6067, EXT 245.

During regular business hours take the cash to the Fayette County Clerk of Court. Once paid, the Clerk will give you a certificate verifying the bond is paid.  This certificate will need to be brought to the Fayette County jail to bond out the inmate.

After regular business hours, bring the correct cash amount directly to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to bond the inmate out.

Bonding Agency

If you are posting a bond through a bonding agency, it is up to you to contact the Bonding Agency and work with them to come up with the terms and conditions of posting bond for an inmate's release. The bonding agencies are separate entities from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, and the sheriff's office does not recommend or discredit any bonding agency.
