DETENTION OFFICER JOB REQUIREMENTS

It is the policy of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to establish the following
“minimum” requirements for employment as Detention Officer:

1.      Must have reached his/her eighteen (18^th) birthday.

2.     Is able to read and write the English language

3.     Is of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation
        which includes a fingerprint search conducted of local, state and national files.

4.     Is not by reason of conscience or belief opposed to the use of force,
        when appropriate or necessary, to fulfill his/her duties.

5.     Is in good physical condition and free from contagious diseases as certified by a physician.

6.     Successfully complete the psychological testing series.

7.     Have a high school diploma or G.E.D.

8.     Have the ability to write reports and has basic computer skills including knowledge
        with the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word or equivalent. 

9.     Has successfully completed, or is willing to complete the state required Detention
        Officer training program within the first year of employment.

DISPATCHER JOB REQUIREMENTS

It is the policy of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to establish the following
 “minimum” requirements for employment as Detention Officer:

1.      Must have reached his/her eighteen (18^th) birthday.

2.     Is able to read and write the English language.

3.     Is of good moral character as determined by a thorough background
        investigation which includes a fingerprint search conducted of local, state
        and national files.

4.     Have a high school diploma or G.E.D.

5.     Have basic computer skills including knowledge with the use of Microsoft Excel,
         Microsoft Word or equivalent. 

6.    Must be able to multi-task.
